RE at Hollydale

At Hollydale Primary pupils learn about the six main religions: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism and Buddhism and lessons are planned using the Southwark Agreed Scheme of Work. We celebrate diversity and embrace the British values which we impart to our pupils through mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

Religious Education encourages pupils to learn from different religions, beliefs, values and traditions while exploring their own beliefs and questions of meaning. They have opportunities to share the experiences and ideas of others without making judgements. Through the teaching of Religious Education we also give our children the experience to visit different places of worship and also invite leaders of different faiths to visit our school through assembly times.

Religious Education (RE) is an important part of our curriculum; however, parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE lessons. If you are considering withdrawal, we encourage you to speak with us so we can answer any questions and explain what this would mean for your child.
